Golden Light, Watercolour on Canvas with gold leaf

This painting was created after a trip to Barbados. The painting captures the golden light of the landscape and evokes a sense of hope and brightness against the dark undergrowth of the land. The flowers drawn with a fine pen and then bleached away, so you can see beauty and decay. My signature trees create movement in the piece as I see these trees as a symbol of opportunity and belonging. The gold, is like another other-world and heavenly. The gold leaf was layered and brushed away, the adhesive layered as a pattern of clouds moving quickly in the sky. The little black forest is where the viewer is heading to, once you can get past the obstacles.
